This is part two of Kate's series on Mary Morton Allport's mother, Ann Floyd Chapman and her journals. Part one (The Jane Austen-esque Diaries of Mary Morton Allport's Mother) can be found on the Libraries Tasmania Soundcloud and YouTube pages.
When we last left off, Ann Floyd Chapman was lamenting her lot in life and those of her children. In particular, two of her sons, Tom and James, and her daughter, Mary Morton Allport- who was so far away in Van Diemen's Land. In this talk, we will catch up with Ann Floyd as she records the joys, heart break, losses and new beginnings faced by her family. Written as a journal for her absent daughter, "Mrs Allport", Ann Floyd's journals contain a remarkable account of an every day family living in early Victorian England.
