National Family History Month (NFHM) is celebrated every August in Australia and in New Zealand. We are finding many organisations are reluctant (or unable) to hold physical meetings just yet, especially in parts of Australia, but we hope circumstances improve quickly. It is not too late to plan and advertise events, especially on-line events. If you have an ordinary meeting or event planned in August, why not promote it as happening in Family History Month, and add it to our list of events on our website (https://familyhistorymonth.org.au/events/). If you need help, contact our webmaster via the website contact form.
We currently have more than 20 events listed, but would like lots more.
We have some competitions and prizes during August, so look for details on our website, and we will post more info here before the start of August.
We have listed an Opening Event on 1 August, and a Closing Event on 31 August. These will be by Zoom, and you must book. The details are on the website, and include a short lecture on a major Irish Event in 1916, and a lecture on ways to track down an elusive ancestor. Places are limited, and you will need to book your place. If you have never attended an on-line lecture before, this is a great opportunity. You just need an Email address and a computer/laptop/small screen device with a web browser. We will make it easy!
Our webmaster is always willing to provide any help needed (I do sleep sometimes though).
