National Family History Month is less than a Month Away

5 July 2020 | By Jan Squire | Filed in: Uncategorised.

National Family History Month (NFHM) runs from 1 August to 31 August 2020. This year it is a bit different because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are here to promote whatever events are able to be staged. We already have a few events listed on our website (familyhistorymonth.org.au), and we encourage all libraries, history and genealogy groups to consider holding events if your local circumstances allow. You can list events specially created for NFHM or just include regular family history events.

Sponsorships are still needed this year, and any interested organisations can still enquire about assisting us with financial or in-kind support. Our competitions are also being conducted this year, although with a few less prizes so far. Ancestry deserves special mention as a prize sponsor in 2020, and it is not too late to add your organisation to the list.

We will post more information as August gets nearer, and we encourage everyone to remind their friends and networks of this special Family History Month. August is a great time to encourage others to think about starting or resurrecting an interest in Family History. Those of us who are immersed in family research are great ambassadors to spread the word.

If you need support to create your events on our website, or want to ask about sponsorships or donate prizes, our contact page on the website is the best way to reach us.
