During the month of August, the Lithgow Library and Learning Centre will host an exhibition by the Lithgow and District Family History Society that will focus on different aspects of family history. Featuring members of local families and details of accessibility to many local records, this eclectic display includes the results of research by members of the society over many years.
The Hennessy Cup will be on public display for the first time in many years. Donated by Ted Hennessy, licensee of Lithgow’s Exchange Hotel, the cup was to be played for on the knock-out principle in 1926. The impracticability of conducting a knock-out in conjunction with the rugby league premiership, forced the decision to award the cup to the first-grade team with the highest competition points. All Blacks became the permanent holders of the cup in 1928. This impressive trophy was found at the Bargo rubbish tip in 2018 and donated to the Society by its finder for safe keeping.
